-- Simply Forró Turns Five! -- Anniversary Celebration with Live Music, Potluck & vinyl DJs Friday, 11 September 2026 17:30–00:00 Kulturkeller, GZ Höngg Limmattalstrasse 214, 8049 Zürich Five years of dancing, music, friendship and community deserve a proper celebration! Join us for the 5th anniversary of Simply Forró: an evening filled with shared food, live music, and plenty of dancing. We will begin with a community potluck followed by celebrating together on the dance floor with the Simply Forró, VEFA, DJ Nawo, and DJ Lara Aredes. Whether you have been part of Simply Forró from the beginning or have only recently discovered our community, you are warmly invited to celebrate this special milestone with us. Programme 17:30–19:30 — Check-in & Community Potluck + Brasilidades Vinyl Set Arrive, meet old and new friends, and share a meal with the community. Please bring your own drinks and, if you are able, a dish, snack or dessert to share. At 18:30, DJ Nawo will play a special Brasilidades (Samba, MPB, Choro, Bossa etc.) vinyl set. 19:30–20:30 — Live Concert: Simply Forró & VEFA For our anniversary, Simply Forró will perform in a special trio edition, featuring Vinny, Nathi, and Jenny. Simply Forró is also inviting VEFA, one of our local bands, for a set. 20:30–21:00 — Simply Forró Anniversary Toast A moment to raise our glasses, look back on five wonderful years and celebrate everyone who has helped build the Simply Forró community. 21:00–22:30 — DJ Nawo (Forró Vinyl Set) We are honoured to have our local vinyl DJ with us. Growing up in a family of musicians, DJ Nawo was surrounded by a wide variety of musical genres and rhythms from an early age. After discovering forró, he quickly became hooked and soon began DJing himself. His love of classic forró pé de serra, vintage samba and powerful balanços naturally led him into the world of vinyl. Today, he shares his carefully selected music with forró communities across Europe. 22:30–00:00 — DJ Lara (Forró Vinyl Set) For our last DJ set of the evening, we have organised a special guest. Originally from Espírito Santo, Brazil, Lara Aredes is one of the most recognised DJs in the contemporary forró scene. Driven by a deep passion for Brazilian music, especially traditional forró pé de serra, she is a resident DJ at the legendary Buraco do Tatu in Itaúnas, one of the most iconic venues in Brazilian forró. Lara regularly performs at major festivals and events across Brazil. Her sets combine beloved classics with rare musical discoveries, creating vibrant journeys through the richness and diversity of Brazilian music. Through her work, she also represents the growing presence and strength of women within the forró community.
