Details   Experience a weekend ski-touring away from the pistes. This weekend is designed for people who are new to ski touring and want to experience getting into the mountains and away from the ski-pistes. We aim to help you progress in becoming independent in your ski-touring journey. It is 2 days (and 2 nights) of guided ski touring away from the pistes, with ascents, descents, and even summits where conditions permit. We will meet Friday evening at an agreed destination. If required, we can collect you from a suitable train station. Possible destinations are Leukerbad, Ovronnaz, Val de Bagnes and Val d'Anniviers, amongst others. We aim to find a safe venue, with good snow and welcoming refuges. The final choice will depend on weather, snow, and avalanche conditions with the decision being made the week of the trip. We may take a ride through a ski lift system to maximise our time in the high mountains. The refuge will probably be a CAS hut (Club Alpin Suisse), which will provide a hearty meal and basic but comfortable accommodation. We will aim to ascend a major peak on both Saturday and Sunday. The price is inclusive of dinner, and breakfast. Lunch can be purchased from the huts, or a restaurant stop will be made where possible. Throughout the weekend we will build on your knowledge and help you to understand better such topics as; • Ski-touring techniques • Skiing in off-piste conditions • Route choice and map reading • Avalanche awareness and avoidance A WhatsApp group will be established closer to the trip to allow for information, such as final location, and other questions you might have, to be shared with the group. We are originally English but have lived here for many years. Our team is made up of UIAMLA International Mountain Leaders or UIAGM Mountain Guides.
