Der aktuelle Blog dreht sich einmal nicht um die Lernenden sondern um die Lehrpersonen, welche bei Daisy Carter einen Englisch-Kurs besuchen:
They say that to best learn a new language, you have to immerse yourself in the country and the culture. Push yourself out of your comfort zone. It will be hard, but it will be worth it. I know how difficult it is to learn a second language so I empathise with the children in my classes because when they enter my lessons, they have arrived in the UK and albeit one hour behind, the jetlag can be exhausting!
This blog, however, is not about the children. We know how resilient and wonderful our children are. We know their capabilities and competence for learning. The adults on the other hand, well; they face a different scale of challenges when learning another language. Adults famously find language learning more difficult than children, whose super-flexible brains actually grow the connections necessary to learn an additional language. First, our brain-sponge is a little worn out. As we age, the more our native language comes to dominate the linguistic map space and the second language finds it hard to compete.
Therefore, this blog is dedicated to all of the teachers from my school who not only gave up their lunchtime but also challenged themselves to learn English with me. The team spirit that drives our school stems from colleagues supporting each other and I am grateful to be part of such a wonderful team who consistently looks for opportunities to develop and grow.
Love,
Your English teacher
